Francisco Lindor had an exceptional Monday after a very good Sunday.
Lindor homered twice
Radek Faksa Jersey , including a grand slam, and finished with a career-high seven RBIs as the Cleveland Indians beat the Kansas City Royals 9-3 on Monday night.
On Sunday, he had two doubles and a solo homer in Oakland.
Lindor homered in the fourth after Yan Gomes singled and Jakob Junis hit Tyler Naquin and Rajai Davis with pitches. He added a three-run homer in the sixth to finish Junis’ evening.
”One was a changeup and the other one was a slider,” said Lindor, who has 23 home runs. ”My approach is hit the ball and if it goes out it goes out. It was a good pitch to hit (on the grand slam). I was just trying to get one guy in. I’m not a power hitter. Just get a good pitch to hit and drive it.”
Lindor has 17 home runs and 54 RBIs in 54 games against the Royals.
”Just a routine day for him, today and yesterday,” Indians starter Corey Kluber said. ”He continues to get better, which is kind of scary.”
Kluber (12-4), who failed to make it out of the second inning in his previous start at St. Louis, gave up two runs in the first, but little after that. He allowed three runs and seven hits, walked none and struck out five over six innings.
Davis had three hits and scored three runs.
”I got myself into trouble with a couple of hit batters and good teams are going to take advantage of that,” Junis said.
Junis (5-10) has lost his last seven starts and is tied with teammate Jason Hammel for most losses in the American League. He has yielded a major league-high 24 home runs, including 12 in his last five starts over 27 innings.
”You worry about his confidence more than anything else,” Royals manager Ned Yost said. ”Again
http://www.officialcanucks.com/authentic-adidas-henrik-sedin-jersey , it’s an easy fix. When you’re off the side of the slider, it’s gonna be a cement mixer. He started off good, just didn’t end that good.”
Whit Merrifield homered on Kluber’s third pitch for his fourth career leadoff home run. Salvador Perez singled home Mike Moustakas, who had doubled, in an 11-pitch at-bat for the other Kansas City run in the first.
Jorge Bonifacio logged his first RBI of the season in the Kansas City sixth after being suspended the first 80 games for taking a performance enhancing drug.
The Royals have lost 23 of their last 28 games. They are tied with the Baltimore Orioles for the most losses in the majors with 54. They scored four runs or fewer for the 23rd time in the last 24 games.
ROYALS SIGN FIRST-ROUND PICK
The Royals signed right-hander Jackson Kowar, a first-round compensation selection and the 33rd overall pick, to a $2.118.700 signing bonus. He went 10-5 with a 3.04 ERA as a Florida junior.
GOODBYE LEBRON
LeBron James has left the Cleveland Cavaliers to join the Los Angeles Lakers. ”If someone gave me $154 million I’d probably go somewhere too,” Indians manager Terry Francona said. ”He did what he said he was going to do. He got them a championship. When you’re a free agent, you’ve earned that right. I will miss him, because I loved going to games when he played. It’s hard to begrudge somebody. He earned it.”
TRAINER’S ROOM
Indians: RF Lonnie Chisenhall was a late scratch with a strained left calf. Francona said Chisenhall would definitely go on the disabled list. … RHP Danny Salazar underwent season-ending shoulder surgery in Dallas. ”It just kind of came to a point,” Francona said. ”That’s the last option. You try everything else before you go into somebody’s shoulder. The good side is there was no structural (damage). The rotator cuff was good. They cleaned him out. It’s a shame we lost him for the whole year.”

Indians: RHP Shane Bieber is 3-0 with a 2.22 ERA in his first four big league starts.
Royals: LHP Danny Duffy is winless in six home starts this season, going 0-3 with a 6.32 ERA.

Already in the midst of a monster game, Matt Carpenter almost left too early.
Carpenter stuck around for one more swing, and connected for a three-run homer Friday that capped off a historic performance for the St. Louis Cardinals in an 18-5 romp over the Chicago Cubs.
Carpenter hit three home runs and two doubles, going 5 for 5 with seven RBIs. He tied the major league record for extra-base hits in a game
Zach Hyman Jersey , and became the first player to do it in just six innings.
”I’m having a hard time to come up with words to describe a day like this,” Carpenter said.
Carpenter led off the game at Wrigley Field with a home run against Jon Lester. With the Cardinals comfortably ahead, interim manager Mike Shildt contemplated resting him.
”I almost didn’t take the last at-bat. He came up to me, they had the lefty on mound and he said, `Hey, what do you think?”’ Carpenter said.
”I was actually OK with Jose (Martinez) coming in, we had a big lead, we have a lot of games piling up in the next couple of days. I was honestly OK with it,” he said. ”And then I looked at the situation knowing that if I was going to get up, there was going to be runners on base so I went back up to him and said, `Hey, I’ll take this last one, for sure,”` Carpenter said.
It turned into a huge day for Carpenter, who exited after that last homer.
”I can’t think outside of T-ball that I have ever done that
Drew Doughty Jersey , certainly a first for me,” he said.
Carpenter became the 14th player with five extra-base hits in a game, and the first to do it for the Cardinals.
Trailing 15-1 after Carpenter’s third homer, the Cubs used three position players to pitch the rest of the way – infielder Tommy La Stella, backup catcher Victor Caratini and versatile Ian Happ. La Stella and Caratini gave up homers as the Cubs became the first team since the 1979 Milwaukee Brewers to use three position players on the mound in a game.
The NL Central-leading Cubs lost for just the fourth time in their last 17 games.
Carpenter joined Cubs star Kris Bryant as the only players in the majors to hit three home runs and two doubles in a game. Bryant homered in this game, too, as did teammate Willson Contreras.
Carpenter has homered in four straight games. During that stretch, he is 9 for 16 with six home runs, three doubles and 10 RBIs.
The leadoff homer by Carpenter was his team-record sixth of the season and 21st of his career, matching the club mark held by Hall of Famer Lou Brock.
”It’s super humbling to be mentioned in the same sentence as Lou. Anytime you’re in any kind of record with an organization like this, it is certainly humbling. It’s a privileged to put on this jersey and play for an organization that has such a cherished history and any time you can be a part of it’s pretty neat,” Carpenter said.
Carpenter hit a two-run homer in the second off Jon Lester (12-3). Carpenter doubled twice in the fourth and hit a three-run drive, his 23rd this year, off reliever Brian Duensing in the sixth.
Carpenter has faced Lester more than any other pitcher during his career, but was just 7 for 50 (.140) with 14 strikeouts and one home run against the lefty until breaking loose.
Lester (12-3) was tagged for a season-high eight runs on seven hits and five walks in three innings. It was his first loss since a 1-0 loss to Cleveland on May 23.
”Yeah
Nick Jensen Jersey , unfortunately. I would have liked to minimize the damage a little bit more, I was unfortunately not able to. I don’t want to chalk it up like days like this happen. I think mechanically this has kind of been coming, I’ve been battling myself a little bit these last three starts,” he said.
The Cardinals tied a season high with 18 hits as they bounced back after dropping the first game of the five-game series. The teams play a day-night doubleheader on Saturday and in order to save his bullpen, Cubs manager Joe Maddon used other parts of his roster.
It was the first time two position players were used to pitch for the Cubs since at least 1907, according to Cubs historian Ed Hartig.
”Takes me back to the beer leagues, game goes on and on but both teams keep playing because they’re supposed to. I love their effort. I like the way we dealt with it,” Maddon said.
La Stella allowed one run in 1 1-3 innings, a homer by Greg Garcia. Caratini gave up a pinch-hit, two-run homer to Yairo Munoz in the eighth and Happ pitched a scoreless ninth.
Jack Flaherty (4-4) pitched five innings. He allowed one run and two hits, struck out nine and walked four.
TRAINER’S ROOM
Cardinals: For the second straight game, OF Harrison Bader didn’t start, but came off the bench in the sixth as a defensive replacement. He left Sunday’s 6-4 victory over Cincinnati with a hyperextended left knee. He was 2 for 2.

Cardinals: RHP Luke Weaver (0-1) will start the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader and RHP John Gant (3-3) goes in the nightcap. Gant has made two starts in the majors this season. He allowed 10 runs in eight innings.
